Spots from where you can witness the most breathtaking Fireworks in Dubai- Burj Khalifa Fireworks

New Year’s Eve is one of the most exciting times in Dubai. The city has an amazing array of parties and celebrations for everyone. Even if you do not want to spend too much money on a party, there are several free things that you can do to usher in the New Year in the most exciting way. For many people, watching the fireworks that erupt at several places in the city, as the clock strikes 12 is one of the highlights of New Year’s Eve in Dubai. The most popular amongst them is the fireworks at Burj Khalifa. The tallest building in the world is converted into an LED screen displaying a riot of colours, designs and New Year messages. Combined with these are the fireworks around the building that make it one of the most spectacular shows in the city. While the Burj Khalifa can be seen from almost anywhere in the city, here are some of the best places to watch the Burj Khalifa fireworks.

1. Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa Fountain 

The first obvious choice to watch the Burj Khalifa fireworks is at the Burj Khalifa Fountain. You cannot get more close to the building that this, if you want to see the fireworks at midnight. Alternatively, try the balconies in Dubai Mall that face the building. The only problem is that these are everybody’s first choices, and they would get crowded long before the clock strikes 12.

One of the things that you can do is arrive early and secure a place near the fountain or one of the balconies, as early as six in the evening. This means a long waiting period, but it is surely a worthy sacrifice. If you want to enjoy the fireworks in a relaxed manner, book a table at one of the restaurants nearby. However, make sure to book in advance. You can also go on a boat ride (advance booking is necessary) on the Dubai Fountain, to see the fireworks more closely. One more thing to remember is to arrive at the venue before 8 PM, as access to Burj Khalifa is closed after this to control the crowd.

2. The Burj Plaza

If you are accompanied by your family, especially young children, to see the fireworks, waiting at the Burj Khalifa Fountain for the entire evening, may not seem to be a good idea. In this case, it would be best to opt for Burj Plaza, an open-air promenade, close to Burj Khalifa. Apart from giving you a great view of the fireworks, this place has lot to offer to families and kids. Home to several entertainment zones, the Burj Plaza would make your waiting time enjoyable. The Downtown Slide is a 19-meter-long metal tube, which makes sliding down exciting for both adults and kids. Aurora Gaming is another popular zone here. Moreover, the place has several cafes and restaurants that dish our delicious food.

3. Souk Al Bahar

Souk Al Bahar, an eclectic mix of the traditional souk and modern day malls, is located next to the Dubai Mall and makes a great spot to watch the Burj Khalifa fireworks. You can arrive in the evening and spend your time shopping for traditional goods and artifacts or browsing the numerous interesting stalls. However, what you need to do to watch the fireworks is to reserve a table at one of the restaurants at Souk Al Bahar, from where you would get uninterrupted views of the Burj Khalifa. In order to not miss this opportunity, make your reservations well in advance (at least 2-3 weeks before), as these restaurants are popular for their food as well as the view of the tallest building.

4. Kite Beach

If you are looking for  unique ways of spending New Year’s Eve, visiting a beach would be a great idea. Moreover, if you visit Kite Beach or Jumeirah Beach, you can not only see the Burj Khalifa fireworks but several others along the Dubai skyline. Make sure to reach early so that you can secure a good spot on the Kite Beach. You can lie down on your mat, have a picnic, try some water sports or grab something to eat at one of the several restaurants on the beach, while you wait for the clock to strike 12 and the sky to illuminate with colourful fireworks.

5. Dubai Design District

As most of the places mentioned here are hotspots for watching the fireworks, they are naturally quite crowded too. If you do not want to spend New Year’s Eve worried about reserving a good spot and reaching on time, you would like the Dubai Design District. While you wait for the fireworks to start, walk around the area to check out some incredible creative works of art by artists around the world.

6. Black Palace Beach

Another lesser-known place that would be perfect to watch the fireworks is the Black Palace Beach. Rarely known or visited, Black Palace Beach is located at Knowledge Village and gives you a great view of the Burj Khalifa as well as the Palm Islands. While the Kite Beach would be crowded, you would easily find a good spot for you and your family at the Black Palace Beach. Moreover, apart from the Burj Khalifa fireworks, you would also get to enjoy the fireworks at Palm Islands.

7. Rooftop Restaurants

If the idea of enjoying a fine dining meal while watching the spectacular fireworks show seems like the best way to welcome the New Year, Dubai has several great rooftop restaurants that would give you an amazing view of the Burj Khalifa fireworks. Wolfgang Puck and Calabar at The Address Downtown Dubai, Uptown at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Thiptara at The Palace Downtown Dubai and Alta Badia are some of the best restaurants to watch Burj Khalifa fireworks in Dubai. Bookings at these hotels start early, so do not wait too long to reserve a table for 31st December.
